Provider Description
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor & the Owner/Director of Affirmation Wellness. I hold a Master’s of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of BC & am a member in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I've spent my career serving & supporting diverse populations of youth to elder clients in higher education, community non-profit & private practice settings. I also work extensively with the LGBTQIA+ community. In this role, I've gained experience supporting & working with people through stress, identity/sexuality concerns, depression, grief/loss, anxiety, trauma & relationship conflict. The most fundamental part of my work is striving to build strong, affirming therapeutic relationships that both bolster dignity & resilience & create space for clients to safely explore & engage with barriers to their life satisfaction & wellbeing. My approach is warm, person-centred & trauma-informed. It draws from & integrates cognitive & relational modalities using both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & Interpersonal Process Theory.
