Dr. Hugh Wright joined the Billings Clinic Bozeman team as a comprehensive ophthalmologist in September 2021, specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of eye disease, including cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, macular degeneration, and diabetes. Dr. Wright grew up in Greenville, SC. He graduated from the College of Charleston and received his B.S. in Biochemistry, B.A. in Chemistry, and a minor in biology, graduating cum laude. Dr. Wright then received his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he volunteered with the Fight for Sight clinic and Crisis Ministries, which fueled his interest in ophthalmology. After finishing medical school, he completed his intern year in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, followed by his ophthalmology residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. While in residency, Dr. Wright was awarded the Academic Achievement Award in 2016 and Resident of the Year Award in 2017. He has published and presented research in the fields of neuro-ophthalmology, cornea, oculoplastics, and eye trauma. After spending the last four years in private practice in Charleston, SC, Dr. Wright and his wife are thrilled to be a part of the Bozeman community and raise their daughter, Ruby, amongst the beautiful Montanan outdoors. Dr. Wright believes it is an honor and privilege to care for patients in need and to have the ability to restore and improve their vision. In his free time, Dr. Wright loves to spend time with his active family, including running, hiking, traveling, fishing, and exploring all that Montana has to offer.
