I grew up in a poor part of Los Angeles and was raised by a single mother in a largely traditional Latino household. I graduated from UC Irvine and then Harvard Medical School. I trained at a busy level one county hospital before practicing emergency medicine for over a decade. I have been working in urgent care medicine and teaching for the past 6 years. Coming out was not easy but very formative. I am happily married to my wonderful husband Daniel and live in the Bay Area. My philosophy regarding medicine and my patients is simple - be supportive, nonjudgemental and healing. If you are allowed to be your authentic self, you will thrive.
