Provider Description
Whether you’re grappling with identity issues, seeking to overcome past traumas, or simply looking to explore new dimensions of yourself, I’d love to help guide you on your journey. I’m Strother Gaines (LGSW, MBA) and I’m a Queer therapist based in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. I am currently accepting clients for both in-person and telehealth appointments and would love to get to know you and see how I can help you create the life you want to be living, even in all the chaos right now. I believe deeply in the magic of weirdos, outsiders, and anyone who’s ever been told they’re “too much.” (Or “not enough” for that matter…) My practice is rooted in values of liberation, authenticity, and joy—not just as personal goals, but as forms of resistance and healing. I’m proudly sex-positive, kink-aware, affirming of ENM relationships, Trans and NonBinary identities, and all the beautifully complex ways people show up in the world. I believe in the power of community care, creative expression, and reclaiming pleasure and play as essential parts of well-being. Outside the therapy room, you’ll find me nerding out about all kinds of games, immersive theatre, or playing with my sweet Pitbull BB Noodles.
