Provider Description
Like most marginalized communities, our relationship with our mental health at one point was not as centralized as it is today. I got a firsthand experience of seeing both of my parents, grandmother, and uncle all live with (what I didn’t know then) clinical depression and anxiety. I saw the mental health neglect happening to other people who made up my personal ecosystem/community. So many people in my community, including my family, carried mistrust for the mental health system and really didn’t have the tools and resources to tend to their mental health needs. This fueled me to go into mental health treatment and wellness. When working with me, I want people to know that it is an honor to support you in your mental health journey no matter where you are in your journey. It’s important to me to create a collaborative and safe space for people, a place where they don’t have to worry about judgment and can focus on their goals for being in therapy. I do give homework because the real work definitely happens outside of sessions. My intake process is simple and easy so that we can begin to start this journey!
