Hi, I’m Dr. Essence! As a queer, multiracial and neurodivergent woman, I have first hand experience with trying to embrace my identity, find belonging, and navigate a world that wasn't made for me. When you begin therapy with me, you are starting a relationship with a psychologist who has walked the walk as much as she can talk the talk. I value showing up as a real person, so I connect authentically with my clients by balancing encouraging support with honest feedback and accountability. Through my own self-disclosure and personal stories, I aim to create a safe space for you to grow into your favorite version of yourself! I specialize in treating complex ADHD (ADHD + another mental health disorder) in LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals. I am passionate about helping clients to uncover and embrace their full identities, find supportive communities, heal from trauma and discrimination and build lives where they can exist proudly, fully, confidently, and safely. As a sensitive and empathic therapist, I take a collaborative and customized approach, where you learn to understand, accept and love yourself in new ways. In sessions, I integrate teaching, skill building, reflection and feedback. I also assign homework practices that empower you to initiate transformative change outside of therapy (where it matters!)
