Provider Description
I am committed to developing a therapeutic alliance through mutual respect, trust, and vulnerability. My views of human development, as well as approaches to therapy, are largely influenced by Relational Cultural Theory (RCT). I am a trauma informed provider who offers client-centered, narrative, relational cultural, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior therapy as well as internal family systems or “parts” work and brainspotting. I am a post-master’s mental health provider with a BA in Psychology and an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am working towards a Minnesota LPCC license under the supervision of Enakshi Choudhuri, PhD, LPCC. I specialize in youth, adolescent, and young adults; life stage development and transitions; gender and sexual health; LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities; adoptee and foster care; individuals and groups impacted by the prison industrial complex; and cultural identity development. Subsequently, I am familiar with supporting individuals through PTSD, anxiety, depression, insecure attachment, cultural and generational trauma, disrupted family systems, as well as gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia. I believe: my own lived experiences and intersecting identities offer unique perspectives and empathy for others; relationships are at the core of human growth; mutual empathy and mutual empowerment are the center of growth-fostering relationships; and boundaries are a safe place of connection, not division. What do I do when not providing therapy? I enjoy spending time with family, walking my dogs Pepper and Oni (yes, their names together is Pepperoni), and crocheting nearly anything fibrous. I am passionate about social justice, being active in my community, and serving marginalized populations. I also appreciate genuine human interactions and living in Minnesota.
