I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) and graduated with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I work at Inner Wisdom Psychotherapy Associates located in Costa Mesa, CA; we take insurance and are LGBTQIA+ allies and affirming. As a member of the community, I am passionate about enhancing the mental health of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have significant experience counseling LGBTQIA+ clients from my internship at the Long Beach LGBTQ+ Center , and I have obtained trainings in specific topics relating to the LGBTQ+ community, such as domestic violence, substance use, and various topics relating to transgender individuals. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, social anxiety, trauma, shame, substance use, eating disorders, self esteem, anger management, domestic violence, and relationship issues. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to guide clients in the skill of accepting difficult feelings and thoughts without avoidance, in engaging in mindfulness, in living a values-based life, and in other beneficial coping mechanisms. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and narrative therapy, and I apply a strengths-based approach to highlight what resources the client already has to overcome challenges. I work with adults, children/adolescents, couples, and families. I can see clients online or in-person in Costa Mesa. I am under the supervision of Inner Wisdom Psychotherapy Associates owner, Naomi Clark Babcock, LCSW.
