Meeka (they/them) is a Certified Yoga Therapist, Physiyoga Instructor, Physiotherapy Assistant, and Level 2 Reiki Practitioner with over 25 years of personal practice and 3 years of teaching experience. Their classes are lighthearted and welcoming, focused on awareness and connection to body and mind. Maeka’s personal yoga practice has supported them to live well with chronic pain and Maeka supports clients to heal themselves, encouraging empowerment through practice. They invite students to move from the place they’re at — with presence, honesty, and a healthy dose of humour. A lifelong student of yoga, Maeka enjoys sharing the wisdom they’ve gained while giving thanks to the lineage of teachers in this practice that originated in ancient India. They are a queer, non-binary settler living in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq. Maeka enjoys walking in the woods, wild swims and being cozy at home with their teenage children, beloved cats and partner.
