I am a trauma therapist and in the LGBTQ+ community myself. For me, therapy is not an apolitical space, and from that, I practice from a social justice perspective that looks at the way the systems are causing harm and affecting symptoms, as well as how best to heal and cope within/outside of them. I am EMDR-trained and practice from a body-based orientation, meaning therapy with me focuses on finding your inner healing wisdom and using this to guide finding regulation and releasing stuck points in your nervous system (as this is what drives behaviors and beliefs that feel limiting). Sessions with me often involve humor, support, and emotional, somatic, and cognitive exploration to develop insights that allow us to work through the things that present as barriers to living your vision of a good life.
