Provider Description
My name is Emily Jones, and I am a licensed social worker (LCSW). I have always been interested in the intersections of mental health, feminism, and social justice. I found my calling in social work after completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Loyola University Chicago. I returned to Loyola to complete their dual-degree program in Social Work and Women’s Studies and Gender Studies. In the past, I have worked with youth experiencing housing insecurity, survivors of intentional violence, and survivors of domestic violence in a variety of roles, including as a researcher, case manager, and therapist. I identify as queer person, and I am deeply passionate about providing comprehensive, inclusive, and affirming mental health care to the LGBTQ+ community. I approach therapy from a relational perspective, striving to collaborate with clients to create opportunities for empowerment, agency, and exploration. As a feminist social worker, I strive to make space for the complex intersections of identity and the impact of systemic marginalization on mental health. I employ cultural humility in my work, viewing people as experts in their own lived experiences and seeking to meet people wherever they are in their mental health journey. I frequently use tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), strengths-based and solution-focused modalities, narrative approaches, and mindfulness to support my clients through a trauma-informed lens. I am passionate about working with individuals and couples to address gender identity, sex and sexuality, polyamory and other non-monogamous relationship structures, queer relationship dynamics, trauma including PTSD and complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. I am a proud cat parent and if we meet for virtual sessions you will likely meet my cat, Mae.
