Provider Description
Many people come to a therapist when exploring their life path. Finding an affirming provider who can support you in your exploration is key to living your fullest life. I work with many clients exploring identity, life changes, health concerns, and complicated family dynamics. If you want a therapist who is affirming and knowledgeable about LGBTQIA+ issues, poly/ENM and kink relationships, health at every size, social justice and self-compassion you have come to the right place. I work from a relational, psychodynamic, feminist and compassion-based approach to therapy. I have experience with various mindfulness modalities. I am working to obtain a certificate in Narrative Therapy. Additionally, I provide specialized work in evaluations and referrals for gender affirming medical treatments and surgeries. Working with clients, I use an individualized approach towards helping you reach your personal goals. I have experience working in mental health and community services in Massachusetts and South Florida since 1995. Building a trusting, safe therapeutic environment is my goal for you. My Personal Beliefs and Interests: I am a queer cisgender woman. My personal and professional life has been steeped in the LGBTQIA+ community since I came out at age 16. As someone who had to educate their therapist about what it was like to be young and queer, I understand the need to be able to work with a provider who you don't have to educate, but who can just "get it!" Helping clients manage HIV diagnosis, chronic illness, and healthy sexuality are also passions. I have multiple queer, trans and non-binary loved ones (including family members) and I am great with helping to navigate the hurdles related to gender affirmation (including surgery referral letters, choosing a provider, self-care and healing). I am also a parent and understand the challenges and joys this can bring to one's life. I love working with parents, partners, children and friends of LGBTQIA+ people so I can help them in their journey of affirming their loved one's identity.
