Provider Summary
Provider Description
Hello, I am Dylan, and I am a person in long-term recovery. I understand the importance of social connectedness and community, this understanding and passion is what drives me to be of service to others. I am a community activist for both those living with and/or impacted by substance use and/or mental health challenges. I also have a deep passion to serve the LGBTQIA+ population and ensure they have equitable access to community services. In 2018, I obtained my associate’s degree in social work from Cuyamaca Community College in San Diego, and in 2020, I furthered my education with a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation and human services from Penn State University. I am currently in my 3rd and final year of graduate studies at Marywood University’s School of Social Work. In the past six years, I have worked in a variety of positions in the drug and alcohol treatment industry, in both operations and clinical positions. Most recently, I served in the role of a family counselor, where I had the opportunity to provide education and support to family members and loved ones of those impacted by this devastating disease. Social justice, intersectionality, and family dynamics, systems, and theory inform the work I do here at Gemini Recovery Centers. I have a passion for helping others and giving back to my community. I understand that LGBTQIA+ individuals and other adversely impacted groups experience substance use and other mental health conditions at disproportionately higher rates than the general public and face unique barriers to treatment and recovery. I look forward to using my position at Gemini Recovery Centers to continue my advocacy efforts for all those impacted by addiction. “Between stimulus and response there is a space.
